Mark your calendar: Plan on a swinging time and a healthy dose of star-gazing at our 15th annual Alta Bates Summit Celebrity Classic, a benefit for Thunder Road, the Medical Center’s renowned substance abuse recovery program for teens.
The golf tourney, scheduled for Monday, September 11, will be held at the Diablo Country Club and is a perennial sellout. Admission includes a round of golf, lunch, awards, and a buffet dinner. (Past year’s celebrities have included Vida Blue, Jimmy Davenport and Lon Simmons.)
This year’s celebrity pro/am tennis tourney, scheduled for Saturday, September 30, at the Berkeley Tennis Club, will feature headline players on Center Court in mid-day exhibition matches, followed by a black tie–optional gala at the Claremont Resort & Spa. This year’s festivities may well surpass past years’, which recently have featured tennis greats Rod Laver, Ilie Nastase, Jim Courier, Virginia Wade, Tracy Austin, and many more.
